Pray for my prideful heart

Okay, it was hard to think of a title for this thread. I guess I need prayer for a few things, if you guys would. I know I just made a request, please forgive me for being frequent.

First, ever since I first came to CAA, I've felt like I've never been able to connect with anybody. I always felt a little excluded. Forgive me for this pity party, but this is part of the nature of request. But then I realized what a lot of my problem was: pride and selfishness. Since I've first come to CAA, it hasn't been to give, but to somehow gain. I always have come up short because of the emptiness of my motives to be involved with CAA. I wanted to seem cool or holy and wanted to show off my art and get recognition. Pray for me because I stink with pride and it's preventing me from experiencing the fulness of Christ in my life. Well, even that request is selfish... pray for me to be humble because it's what God wants. I've been feeling pretty down about all this lately.

Aw... Syreth....

I think everyone feels like that sometimes.

I can't say whether or not you have a pride problem or not... I don't see inside your heart. All I know is that pride is a human problem, and we all deal with it to a certain extent.

At least you realize it, right? I usually don't.

I'm praying for you... right now.

LIke Alice said, I think most people have thought that way too in the past. God made us as compasionate beings-like Himself. He wants us to both give and recieve it. So it's only natural to want to feel included, liked or loved. But yeah, I know how you feel man.

From what i know about you, from talking to you on AIM and on CAA you are a man of the Lord with a big heart. To me, that's all the matters.

You may feel that perhaps some people don't notice you, but let me assure you that I have. *checks the Contribution thread* Yep, I had you on it :P

But I will definitely be praying for you. Only you know what you feel inside, and I know if you give it to God, He'll be able to help. Let us know how it goes. Take care man.

I thought you were one of the least prideful people on CAA. I'll pray for you mate, I have this problem too. Handing it over to Jesus is the only way.
God Bless!

Hey, I let my ego get in the way of my relationship with God, and I've felt the same way in various places, not just here at the CAA. It's a normal feeling that requires prayer and self-discipline and the patience to realize that it can and probably will easily recur from time to time during our lives. I'll pray for you, Syreth, and I ask that we all pray for each other to have more humility and to exhibit more selflessness.

And for the record, I've never seen you act prideful about anything, Syreth, but I can understand your feelings regardless. :thumb: Again, I'll be praying.

Thanks sooo much for the reassurance, guys. I think I really needed that. At least it's good to know that I wasn't behaving pridefully on the outside. Also, agasfas, I really appreciate your recognition. It means a lot to me.

I think you nailed it, Alice. It's definately an issue with my heart. Like Warrior said, I just need to give it to Jesus.
But anyhow, thanks above all for your prayers. I've struggled with prideful motives for as long as I can remember seriously devoting myself to God. I suppose it's a daily battle like the struggle for a pure thought-life, free from adulterous inclinations. Arg, I long for when the struggle is over and we can all just be with Jesus.

Job 35:12-14
12 There they cry out, but He does not answer,
Because of the pride of evil men.
13 Surely God will not listen to empty talk,
Nor will the Almighty regard it.
14 Although you say you do not see Him,
Yet justice is before Him, and you must wait for Him.
NKJV

/ Scripture to help you, pride can hurt your relationship with G-d.

I will pray. Don't worry that your current situation will keep you from a fulfilling relationship with Christ, as long as you are continually seeking Christ, he will be there for you.

Thanks so much, guys. I feel really encouraged and that your prayers have really made a difference in these past couple of days. I've really been able to just sit and pray and hang out with God and it's been really refreshing. I just need to continually go before Him, in the Holiest. I'm so glad that God gives people the gift of encouragement.
