PayPal troble

Postby anime4christ » Tue May 03, 2005 1:43 pm

I wanted to buy a domain using my mom's paypal account, but somehow the money got into the hands of another company who supposedly hacked the original companies website (I kinda doubt that). It was only $10 USD. Well, I went through a bunch of pain and paypal has decided that the money belongs to me and as soon as that guy gets any money on his paypal account, I should be automatically refunded the $10. So everythiing was cool, I cooled down about it, $10, no biggy. But now this dude is sending me bills for 50 euros and throwing threats at me. I don't wanna get my mom's account closed down, and I can't pay him no 50 euros, even if I would, I know he would bill me more. I can turn to lawyers, but I don't want to get into it all, especially since it's my mom's lawyers and my mom's paypal account. Please pray that it all works out right. Thanks.

Keeps charging you for 50 euros; that's a little more then $63 USD. WOW.

First I don't know exactly what exactly you are talking about... Did you use the your mom's account w/o her permission? Did this guy gain access to y'alls account?

If he got access to y'alls account, change the passwords or close the account.

And yes, you should tell your mother, it's only right... plus it's her money, not yours. Also, she'll find out anyways because the expense will show up on her next credit card bill. If you tell her now, you mother can contest the charges and get the bill dismissed. It'll be less hassle if you truthful in the begining. May be the hard thing to do, but it's the right thing. Plus, I doubt you'll have any luck suing him b/c he's in another country.

Best thing in my opinion is to first tell you mother, then close the account. You can always open another one anyways.

My mom knows, and it was my money that got stolen, I just put my money on my mom's account. But this guy wants to get 50 euros for nothing. And he's throwing threats and stuff at me.

He's in europe? How is he threatening you? As long as paypal doesn't find you at fault, you can register a complaint against him. I can't think of anything he can do from europe though.

He's threatening my account will be suspended, but I'm not sure what account he's talking about. If he's talking about hosting account, he can go ahead and suspend it (cuz it doesn't exist, so he can have fun suspending any account there he wants, I know it won't be mine).

Sounds like he's trying to scam you. I'd report 'em.

But that's just my opinion. *shrug*

1st time (when he stole $10) PayPal decided in my favor.
2nd time (when he sent the bill) PayPal said he's probably a spammer and they'll look into it
3rd time (when he started with his threats) ... still waiting, nothing so far
