so many things...

1) Who remembers my friend Ashley? she's back home, but now she's into cutting herself; i like shiny things, but that shiny... so i would like for people to pray that she stops this awefull habbit. :sniffle: :shake:

2) There is a missions trip my church and an organization called "The Sowers International" have put together, and i really want to go. The only problem is coming up with $2,600 :wow!: so that i can go. ya, there'll be meetings showing us how to raise the money and stuff like that, but $2,600 is a lot to come up with before June. but, if the money does not come in, i'll just take that as God's way of saying "Wait."

3) My parents are fighting. :waah!: mom doesn't like how dad stays up 'til 4 in the morning drinking, and then waking up at 6 to take my brother and i to school. :shake: I don't like him drinking either, so please pray that he breaks this habbit. They don't know i'm posting this, and i hope it stays that way; or you all can say "Bye LostChild" for like the next 20 years...

4) Finally, this one is for me. I had brain surgery November 2003, and i'm doing great! which is amazing, because i was thought to have Cerebral Palsy, but that wasn't it, so it was able to be corrected. i am due to have a check up in about a month, so hopefully everything is going fine, and nothing has gone wrong.

please keep my friends and family in your prayers so that all shall be mended in time by He who has created us so magnificently.

Hey, LC, I'll pray for your friend, for your missions trip (that it be according to God's will), for your dad, and for you in your upcoming check-up. :thumb:

I also will keep your friend Ashley, your father and your doctor visit in my prayers.

Just curious, have you had an in depth talk to your friend Ashley about her problem? If you have continue to re-emphasize that she will always have someone to talk to, to lean on; continue to be there for her.

Also, I pray her doctor visit goes well and that your dad will find the strength needed to kick his habit.

I'll keep y'all in my prayers.

i've tried talking to her, and i do continuosly remind her that i'm here for her to talk to, but she isn't the one that tells me about what is going on; its her friend, james. i think that she is scared to tell me whats going, so she doesn't. last time, i told her that james told me something was wrong, and then she stopped talking to him, so i don't say anything; i pray. i just hope that she'll open up sometime.

1) I confess that I do not remember if Ashley is a Christian or not. I will be praying that God will give everyone involved strength.

2)I had to do something similar in regard to money last year. I will pray that God's will will be done in the situation.

3)My heart hurts for you. I will pray for God to preside over your family.

4)Brain surgery :wow!: ! I will definately pray!

yes, ashley is a Christian, even if she doesn't act like it sometimes.

and about the brain surgery, i already had it, we all just hope that nothing
has gone wrong since november. that one was a praise that i'm doing so well.
i can run around without getting tired, a headache or being hurt now! *runs
in circles* and i drive my parents absolutely crazy. they think i should go
back to undo the surgery so that i'm mellow again.

About your friend, I know from experience what that's like, LostChild. I had a friend I loved dearly who is a Christian but became drawn back into the world. The thing that still upsets me even now is that my church disciplined her and kicked her out, because she refused to repent. Now they're saying I can't talk to her without bringing up her shame again and again. It doesn't make sense. If she knows why she's been kicked out, in time that WILL shame her. Also, the church stated they forgave her, so why must we keep rubbing her sin in her face? That makes it sound like we haven't forgiven her.

Sorry, I went off on a tangent for a sec. But yes, I know how it must feel having a dear friend going off and hurting herself, and refusing to come to you when she needs someone there. I'll be praying.

actually, no i haven't. it was canceled last minute, and was re-scheduled for March or May 9th. i don't remember which one, but i know its one of them "M" months. ^_^ i'm pretty sure it was March though....

my parents aren't fighting anymore, but dad is still drinking. he doesn't abuse us or anything like that, and he waits until he's sober to drive; mom's just scared that its gonna get out of control and he will start to do those sort of things. hopefully he won't

there hasn't been any meeting scheduled yet for the missions trip because not a whole lot of people have signed up yet. i asked if i could invite a friend to come along too because i knew she would "kill" me if i didn't tell her about it. (she is a really strong Christian, and she's always wanting to go on trips like this) at first Dee, the woman in charge of the whole thing, wondered what grade Jessy is in. "we're both in 11th grade," i said. and Dee said that the trip was really for Seniors; but since i have a "reputation" of willingness to help at church i was recomened to go. Then Dee said that if i strongly recomend Jessy to go, then she can go as well. so now, if we raise the money, Jessy and i are going to China. anyways, i thought i would just let you know that this was almost blown because i'm a Junior and not a Senior; but its all good. ^_^

thanks. ^_^ dad is doing better. he's been trying not to drink so much, especially when his friends are around; but that is when he's weak. ashley has been acting "normal." she hasn't gone into any of her habbits that really scare me, so that's good news. about my China trip, not much news yet....

i'll pray for all your requests.

glad your tests came back okay. that's great!

your dad making the move to stop drinking is also great. that's a very hard thing to deal with, for everyone involved; i know, one of my aunts drinks, but sadly, she isn't really making any moves to stopping.

and your friend Ashley seems to be doing better? that's good. continue being there for her, i know that when i'm having down times, people just being there for me is comforting.

oooh. China. cool. that's also cool that you're (and your friend) getting to go as juniors instead of having to wait until you're seniors. if you want some money raising ideas, i have a few and would be more than happy to share.

thanks, LostChild, she could use it.

------------------------------

fund raising ideas:

flamingo insurance - get together several plastic lawn flamingos (any number should do, depending on how into it you want to get). set up a booth somewhere that a lot of people will be passing by (ie. grocery store, wal-mart, k-mart, etc.) or at church after the service, or when/where ever else you can think of. have a sign at your booth, as well as forms for names and address, and money to change bills with. the idea is that for one amount (ie. $5) a person pays you to put flamingo(s) on someone else's lawn, and for another amount (ie. $10) they pay you for insurance to prevent anyone else from flamingo-ing them. when you flamingo someone, be sure to mark all the flamingos clearly with contact information to you/your group, as well as a note explaining why they are there (as well as something about what you are raising money for), that for an amount (ie. $5) you will come pick them up, and that they can also buy insurance and pay to flamingo someone else. this is supposed to be most effective with large amounts of flamingos. and when you flamingo someone, make sure to do it when they aren't home ;) . if you can't find pink flamingos, any other ugly/garish/etc. lawn ornaments will do, just make sure to rename your insurance correctly. (soul's comment - i've only read about this in a magazine, but it sounds like fun, especially if your community really gets into it  )

frozen cookie dough - my high school's marching band sells this to make money for its trips, and it really sells well. plus the dough is quite good, raw or as cookies. there are specific fundraising companies that sell this, you could find over the internet quite easily. (soul's comment - seriously, if at all possible do this fundraiser... i got quite a few complaints when we stopped selling cookie dough because it was time for the trip)

donation auction - there are probably lots of people with different talents in your community who wouldn't mind making something or donating services to be auctioned off. advertise a date to have items turned in by, and the time and place they will be auctioned off. (soul's comment - i've seen this be most effective by coupling a silent auction for some items, and a live auction for others)

cookoff - almost anyone who likes to cook, likes to showcase their talents. have a themed cookoff (ie. chile, dessert) and have people pay a fixed amount for each item they sample, or pay a larger amount to sample everything. (soul's comment - i've seen this be real effective paired with an auction)

pine floats - sell this new craze in dessert drinks, straight from the back woods of Kentucky... pine floats. the actual pine float is a glass of water with a toothpick in it... make it up by bringing actual floats out to replace the pine floats. (soul's comment - bad pun, i know, but i know people who have done this)

those are all i can think of off the top of my head, and yes, some of them *coughpinefloatscough* are rather lame. but i hope these help, good luck fundraising for your trip

ROFL! pinefloats! don't think i'll do that one, but that is hilarious! so krazie... it just might work...! ^_^ thanx! i'll definetly keep these in mind. that flamingo one sounds really good! it also seems like that one pulls in large sums of dineros too! *cough$2600cough* hehehe, i'm gonna steal ur *cough...cough* thing, k? i like it!

thanx again!
