Missions trip: Funds and Fears

Postby Mangafanatic » Sun Feb 20, 2005 4:39 pm

This summer I will be participating in a missions trip over the summer, and I just wanted to ask you guys for pray for a few related issues, if you would!

1) I need to raise about a thousand dollars. Luckily, I saves a bunch of it last summer with a short term job I did. Currently, I have about $700, and some group fund raisers will take care of atleast another hundred. If you guys would ask God in prayer to provide that for me, I would appreciate. But more importantly, I ask for your prayers for my younger sister who is also going. She doesn't have any of the money. If you would pray for God to miraculously provide for her, that would make me ever happier!

2) Also, please pray that I wouldn't be scared about this. I don't like flying, or leaving the country. Both of the ideas pretty much scares me to death. If you would pray for me to have peace, that would be wonderful!

Thanks everyone!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

im going on a missions trip this summer, too. ive got the same fears as you and i need to raise two thousand(i have nothing as of yet). i started talking to one of the youth pastors at my church about basically the same stuff your asking prayer for. he told me not to worry(you shouldnt either) and this is why, if you and your sister are truly meant to go, if God wants you and her on this trip he will provide. not only when it comes to money but courage as well. put your faith in God and he will be your strong hold. youve got all my prayers! im so proud and excited for you!!!! God bless,

Sounds like fun, Osaka! I've done the flying thing, and it wasn't so bad after the fact ( ), but leaving the country is something I would also be nervous about. That's what prayer is for! I'll pray. :thumb:
