and me have been talking about the Bible and all. HE has even given me a book of Mormon. I want to lead him to Christ, so could you please pray for that. I only took the book to perhaps see how to reach him. Ihave been studying the Bible, os just also pray that God'll give me the words I need. Thanks for looking at this at least.

I will pray for your friend. Just remember that it is not you who leads people to Christ, but God through you.

You're so right; I seem to slip up like that a lot. YOU can't make anyone a Christian, it's their response to the Holy Spirit's prompting.

I'll pray that God will guide you in witnessing to him.

He's sees nothing wrong with what he beleives in. I pray God opens his eyes and gives him the ability to see the "real" mormon religion.

The one that's had to change it's beleifs because they were so ... "unorthodox" that it was difficult to even call Mormons "christian".

Volt's right on that. He'll most likely be super hugely offended if you tell him he's not Christian, though... It hurts. And your friend gave you a Book of Mormon, so it seems like he's trying to convert you. If that's the case, maybe it will be enough motivation for him to engage in serious discussion, even when you ask tough questions (if you feel so led).

Be aware that most of the unique doctrines are not discussed in there. They have leaders that they view as prophets and even other books that they consider scripture, so you are in no way going to get a whole picture from the BoM alone. It's an introduction to the religion, not an an in-depth explanation of doctrines.
If you accept the BoM as true, you basically have to accept everything behind it that's part of Mormonism, like that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that there was an apostacy that required a restoration of Christ's church on the earth (through joseph smith), Mormonism is the only true religion today even though Christians have parts, everyone is a spirit child of heavenly parents from before being born into mortality, and other things along those lines. Did your friend already ask you to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it to see if it's true?

This is a prayer request thread, so I don't want to take too far off-topic. But I grew up in that religion (about 18 years' worth) and was very involved in it, so if you have questions about it, definitely feel free to PM.

It can be so much more difficult when it's someone you know well that you're trying to witness to. I'll pray.

He showed me a verse in the Book iof Mormon that said if these things are true that they would be shown to me, or something like that. About him trying to convert me: I thought I already told y'all that. He acts all sympathetic and stuff, but hasn't talked about theological things recently. He showed me a verse in KJV that talked about seeing Jesus in the third heaven to prove that there are levels of heaven. I say this: sky, universe, REAL heaven. That's all they meant, I believe.

Wow, I'm going through the EXACT same thing! One of my classmates is mormon, and he's trying to get me to go to his church. Man, I'm not sure what to say to him. I'm gonna research a bit so that I can answer him better. I'll pray for your situation too!

I'll be praying for you, too, my sister in Christ! It is good to know that there are others going through the same spiritual struggle. Please tell us how it goes and remain strong in the Lord through prayer and scripture so that you may have an answer for all of his insinuations and the like.
