Temptation

I'm having real problems with resisting temptation. I know that I can overcome it because God never presents us with temptations beyond what we can bear, but I seem to fail at every single test that confronts me. I would ask that you would pray for God to give me strength to resist and the diligence to stay in the Word and keep in touch with Him. Thanks.

I will pray for you, but also, it is based on the decision to go with the temptation that causes you to have this problem. Analize the posibilities before coming to a decision. Make sure you actually benefit from the situation and it is not temptation that is being presented. Just be strong and analitical.

tempatation can be one difficult thing to beat. We all face it many times in our lives and sometimes it may seems impossible to win, but there is always hope. I'll be praying both of y'all.

Hey man, I know what you're going through. It can be tough, but God will help. Just don't forget to pray. It's not a sin to be tempted, what matters is whether or not you give in to that temptation. You'll be in my prayers.

We’ve been there and we can/have overcome them.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

Keep choosing God and you will overcome whatever temptations you are facing.

James 4:7-8a Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8a Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

These seem like good advice when struggling with something like temptation.

Ephesians 5: 11-13
11Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13But everything exposed by the light becomes visible,

Philippians: 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.

Temptations are tough, but we all face them, and God gives us the power to overcome them. I'll pray.

I felt the same way GP, and it seemed to go on for years. However, around my 18th Bday I felt God talk to me. He convicted me and asked how long I was going to play around. I prayed that God would clean up my life and give me the strength to say no when temptation came again. Well, it did come again, and I did slip a few times, but each time I was strongly convicted and immediately asked for forgiveness. Now, I am rarely bothered with that type of temptation anymore, which I believe is confirmation of the verse 'Resist the Devil and He will flee from you'.

Resisting isn't just saying 'get lost Devil', it's an on going struggle, but fear not! God will give you the strength :grin:

Anyway, I jsut wanted to let you know that I am praying for you :grin:

I know how you feel, man. It's weird, but verses like "He won't tempt you beyond what you can bear," always made me feel worse. Anyway, you will be in my prayers.
