Okay. So here's the deal. My mother bought $70 worth of clothes for my 11 year old brother. He loved the clothes and it was most of what he was getting for Christmas. Well, that day, she did the brunt of her Christmas shopping and had a hand full of bags when she left the store.

Well, this evening I started helping her wrap things, and the Aeropostale bag that his things were in was gone. We called Aeropostale and one of the clerks remembers the bag (apparently, Mom left it somewhere other than Aeropostale, but it was sent back to the store with the company name on it.) Now what is Aeropostale to do with the lost merchandise? Why--- put it on the floor and sell it again of course!

Yes, so Aeropostale sold the stuff twice. We have the receipt. One of their clerks saw the things, and we can describe them but we're afraid we might not get any of the money back. Which would be a crying shame IMHO. Well, I'm going to confront management at Aeripostale, adn I would truly appreciate prayers. We need that money back. Or atleast we need store credit to replace them...

Thanks alot guys!

Yeah that does suck. ANd is it illegal to resell items, no. Actually it depends. I have worked in both retail and grocery store. People have left things in their carts a million times. We usually wait for about an hour to two hours for someone to claim them. After that we put them back on the shelf. THe store simple won't hold things for hours or days, it takes up too much room-- too cluttered. Here's the deal, if you talk to management then and explain the situation, and how the clerks even said they put the product on the shelf, then most likely they will give you those missing clothing back. And if worse comes to worse, I know one thing that will work.... Cause havoc, not in the literal sense. It's rightfully yours, y'all have already paid for them. Hint, managers hate conflict, so if you make it as difficult as possible, more then likely they will give you the items back. I've seen it done a million times.

ANyways, back to the topic. I will surely pray for you. I know everything will work out.

See, I totally understand this. What I don't understand is why they kept it in their store. They should have given it to Mall security. They have great big old lockers for this this kind of stuff.

Thanks, agafas, that's my general plan. I mom was gonna go over their and do it by herself but I knew she'd be too quite about it. Yes, it is going to be VERY hard for this fellow to worm away from me. . .

Thanks everyone for your prayers. Keep it up, I'm just about to leave.

They could, but it being a specific store merchandise left in that specific store... It just makes more sense to keep it there because it never really lfe the store. If you would have left the bag outside the Aeropostale store, like the food court for example, then yes mall security would be more fit for this. It's kind of like jurisdiction, it really depends on where it was left.
None the less I wish you luck. I have faith everything will work out. Keep us informed, I'm quite curious now... :) Oh, and I will be praying...

I hope things work out. Malls can be so distracting and management a pain if they want to give you trouble.
Prayers that this works out and that you deal with someone willing to be helpful. :)

Well, we talked to the District manager and she has to talk to the people in customer relations that are above her. She did have us reselect the merchandise (put it on hold until she talks to those above her) and took a very detailed list of all the things we had in our old bag. Luckily, the sales girl who saw the bag confirmed to the Disctrict Manager that she had, indeed, seen this stuff and that it was put on the floor and resold. Also, we got a copy of the check that Mom had paid for the stuff with and that proved that it had gone through. Furthermore, we know two girls who are very good employees at the stores that the District manager is over, so they can vouch that we're not just a bunch of morally bankrupt crooks who go around claiming that they lost merchandise in a hope to store credit. I feel quite optimistic about the whole thing.

But keep praying, please. We should get a definite answer from them on Monday.

That's great to hear! Glad everything worked out. Sometimes it's worth that extra effort to get back what is yours. Good thing your christmas wont be dampened by this. Congrats.

Gosh, I know how that is... I am extremely forgetful myself and have left over $60 worth of merchandise in stores... thankfully where I live people are like "Oh, this is yours? Here!"

I think they'll probably be reasonable, though. I don't see why they'd not reimburse you somehow.

I'll pray for you. Just be comforted in the fact this isn't nearly as bad as when I traded in some games at GameStop, only to realize a couple weeks later that I had turned in empty game cases! It was soo embarassing to have to come back and say "Uh, I traded in an empty box... here's the game" Lol. It'll work out.
