XD Good to have you on board Meboeck (can I call you Mebo?)

Hi. God laid it on my heart over the weekend to join the Prayer Guardians. Since I am new with this, when is the next day we are supposed to fast? Also, I think the small groups is an excellent idea.

We normally fast every 1st and 15th day of the month, so the next one will be on Nov 1. However, if you feel to fast more, feel free!

Btw, it's a real blessing to have you all support this. It's such a faith-reviver to be able to come together as a group and pray together :thumb: May Jesus bless you guys so abundantly that it flows over to the people around you

I love the idea of a prayer buddy. I've been struggling to focus my participation in this group and seriously need someone to keep me accountable. If anyone else is interested in being my buddy, pls PM me. Don't worry, I'm friendly. ;)

On an additional note, I've decided to fast from any form of drawing/mangaking and limiting my online activities on prayers or faith-related discussion for the next two weeks. With no intention of exaggerating, this decision is very difficult for me and wonder where am I going to get the strength to give up something I love doing. Pls pray for me as I pray for everyone on their fast days! Thanks, everyone for being supportive and perseverant in prayers! :thumb:

PS: Welcome, meboeck! Probably the best decision you've ever made apart from accepting the Lord's Salvation. ^^

Well, I've got a confesion to make, I've only been able to do one of the fast days since I sign up to be a prayer guardian. First month had a real excuse, (taking care of mom during & after surgery), but pretty much flopped on the others.

What are some other ways to fast, (besides food)? Our family workload, (business), isn't helping me to keep these fasts. HELP!!!

Fasting isn't necessarily limited to food. You could forgo something that you enjoy lots (like Mave with her manga-kaing); TV, internet, computer, reading, dancing, cooking, doing star jumps... but try not to make it something that wont affect you alot (eg if I were to fast TV, I would barely be affected cause I dont watch that much).

Speaking about fasts... I've been wanting to ask you guys if you think designated fasts is a good idea or a bad one. I was reading my Bible the other day and spotted something in the study notes that said something along the lines of how you shouldnt limit fasts to a specific day or time, but rather do as the Holy Spirit leads you to.

What do you guys think of it? Are you actually finding the designated fasts helpful, or are they merely hinderances?

Welllllll, since noone seems to live near Michigan, I guess I shall become Mave's prayer partner (if its alright with her ^^ ). It just means we wont be able to get on MSN at the same time.

Edit: O yeah, I remember what I wanted to talk to you guys about. After flicking through several threads recently, I've noticed how there are a few threads with hardly any replies, and others with just about every man and his dog writing something.

Could you guys keep a look out for those that dont have many replies and put something there (remember, no "i'll pray" Posts)? It isnt very heartening to put a request up and have noone or hardly anyone reply.

Hey, guys! I know, I know, I've slacked off on my Prayer Guardian fellowship in this thread (big-time), but I thought I'd bring this up only in this thread, since it's something that needs dedicated prayer from this group.

It seems as if the CAA is in, well, a slump. People are leaving, people are fighting, people are asking "What's the point? This place won't exist in a few years anyway?", and the cycle keeps repeating. Frankly, it's getting to me, and I've actually started dreading to click on that "New Posts" button on the homepage.

I think that we Prayer Guardians need to pray -- really pray -- with a lot of dedication about CAA and its members. It's just like growing pains in any church, and it similarly needs dedicated, sincere prayer.

So, I'm charging my fellow Prayer Guardians (and myself) to do this. Perhaps the next fast day should be devoted to prayers for the CAA here. :thumb:

- Roger

(On a related note, my schedule is getting freed up more and more, so thank God that I'll start having more time to post to request threads and be praying for others' requests here. :) )

I've noticed that trend too Rogie... and I agree that we should definitely pray about it. Not just that it will remain alive and strong, but that when the time does come for CAA to dispand, that it will not be done with strife or bitterness but with peace and joy and with God's leading.

Btw, good to have you back XD This thread has been rather lonely recently

Roger! *glomps* Nice to see you around, brother.

I must admit I'm somewhat troubled by some recent ongoings but I have faith that no matter what happens, this forum will last as long as God desires. I will make a conscious effort to pray for CAA on a regular basis, petitioning to God to preserve and prosper us.

Hi Silent Hunter and welcome! Nice to see another fellow Michiganer. ^^

Like... woaaah. The fast day is upon us again ^^ Good thing Mave reminded me in a round-about way, or I would have completely forgotten XD

Shall we fast for a specific thing this time? Such as Rogie's point, or even a protection over CAAers minds (there seems to have been a few people lately having bad/demon/down-right-scary dreams).

Anyway, the 1st is on... tuesday? :thumb:

Actually, since the 1st of November is actually All Saints Day, we could devote (at least some) prayer for the "saints" of God that we know, including those here on the CAA. Maybe pray for our fellow Christian stewards, both online and offline, that God will bless their work and service.

Of course, praying for CAA overall and the safety of the minds of CAAers are good to do, too.

But I'm just throwing out suggestions. Gotta keep it democratic. ;)

Every saint used to get their own day, so All Saints Day was for all the ones that didn't get their own day. Anyway, i think prayer for CAAers and off-line Christian friends would be a good idea. There has been a lot of negativity recently.

Ooooo intriguing.

Well, in that case I guess this month's fast topic is for the saints! Feel free to pray for any aspect of it that you want (eg that we will be unified, that we will grow [I'm not just referring to CAA here, but the whole Church ^^], etc)

Btw, Mebo and Faithfighter... how are you finding being prayer buddies? Is it working out? Mave and I are doing ok, but she's kinda disappeared for a week... ^^;;

Is there anyone on the west coast who is willing to be my prayer partner??
If not on the west coast, east coast or central america is fine I am not too particular

Saints it is. Not eating solid food today (must have tea). It's morning and I am hungry already! OK, hunger provides prayer focus.

I also did a quick screen of recent prayer room postings that appear to still need help. PS: This is hard. We need a way to close out threads where somebody no longer needs special prayer for something.

Here. In Kentucky USA. And might I say that the October photo contest winner is looking a little too familiar to some of the buildings near here.

Fast (from food, grumble) is going OK. My prayer list (my own plus gleaning from CAA) had about 16 people on it.

I have been notified that I get to be my minister's "prayer partner" on Nov. 13, so I get to pray in front of the congregation prior to the sermon. Another character building experience!

I fasted okay today, I fasted from food and from reading any kind of book today and of all things we end up going to the local library and I am an avid reader and I love to read, it was so hard not to sit down and read
For my fasting from food It was relatively easy I have fasted at this annual thing my church puts on called the thirty hour famine we don't eat for thirty hours and we raise money to support kids in foreign countries and sometimes I just don't eat for no reason at all. But I like to fast but what is important about fasting is that you have take in an increased amount of liquid when you fast. So when fasting be sure to drink lots of water or juice.
Just a little info I thought I would pass on.

Nah, you aren't too late! We are just taking a role call actually, so we can put more people together in groups.

Sure thing mate! Glad to have you on board ^^
As for what we do; basically we pray for the requests placed on the board, as well as for whatever God leads us to pray for. The only rule of PG that the mods gave us is that we don't post short "i'll pray" posts. I believe this is to prevent spamming or the like. If you want to reply to every thread, but can't think of anything to say as far as advice goes, another option is to type out a prayer as you reply.

Eg
"Dear Lord, please help Member X as he goes through this tough time. Be with him, and use this time to develop his character and draw him closer to You.
In your name, amen"

O, and we have a bi-monthly fast (on the 1st and 15th of every month). You dont have to fast food, it can be something like computer, reading, dancing, listening to music, etc. :thumb: Welcome again!

Yesterday I fasted from my morning ritual of going on the internet for an hour before work. (Actually, I'm doing that morning ritual right now.) I also fasted from food. I think God is starting to do some great things in CAA and its members.
