Try and be friendly in a way that doesnt need her to talk back. It tricky though, espesially if your as shy as you said.

"Trying to reach out
I have recently begun attending a girl's activity group Wednesday nights at my church. Tonight, I noticed something I just don't think I'll be able to let go.

There is one girl there who is far, far quieter than even me (and I'm pretty shy). It seems she'll do anything to avoid speaking, and will nod or shake her head whenever possible to answer questions. When speach is coaxed out of her by someone, I can hardly hear her. She talks in something maybe one half step above a whisper.

This alone wouldn't worry me, but tonight she came in wearing sunglasses and left them on the whole time. Someone got her to say she had a black eye, and that she got that and a few other marks on her face from a bike accident.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid and suspicious, but it just seems so improbable to somehow get a black eye from a bike accident. It sounds to me like a cover-up for something. I just get this vibe from her, a vibe that tells me I need to pray for her and worry about her.

The only way I could do a thing is to befriend her, but as said, I'm very shy, and obviously she even more so. I feel that I need to reach out to her, but I don't think I have the courage. Please pray that I can be brave enough to introduce myself and that the Lord helps her, because I can just tell she needs it.

Any advice on what to say to her would also be appreciated. I'll keep you posted if anything transpires."

I WILL PRAY!
may God give you the boldness of a lion, the wisdom of a serpent, and the gentleness of a mother alligator to her babies. ^^ ( believe me, she's a VERY gentle mom. :) )

So, LORD, I come in the name of Jesus, and I pray, just pray, that Denimcat will have the boldness for " the fear of man is a snare" and " the LORD is my helper, I shall not fear, what can man do to me? LORD, I used to be extremely shy, then you came into my life and healed me completely, thank you.
LORD, I come in your name and I pray that BOTH of these girls wil learn to lean upon you and take you as a covering, may you break that bondage of fear of man and just give them a covering of your comfort.
LORD please show Denimcat @ CAA JUST what to do and say to her, they're both shy, so they both should have no trouble getting along. Please LORD, whatever this girl has hiding in her...may it come out and be announced boldly, please LORD, take care of them and show them just you're way. May YOUR will be done, thank you LORD! Amen...

Glory be to God! ^^
He'll help you. :)

I think you are right. This is an opportunity (and a challenge) for you. You might consider writing her a note saying something simple like "Are you OK?" You might also explain that you are super shy and have trouble talking to people so maybe if she could help you out you'ld appreciate it.

Praying for open-ness and good communication. :)

Good suggestion, SP1. Also being shy, Denimcat, you will be able to relate to her better than some others would. Trust your instinct as to the Spirit moving. I will be praying.
