Worrying is teh suck. u_u [5/9: Added stuff. u_u;;]

Postby Bap » Sat May 06, 2006 6:06 pm

Well... how to start. @o@a I... worry a lot. Like... a lot lot. And I find myself worrying quite a bit when it comes to Christianity. u_u Like I don't feel like I'm doing enough to spread God's word, and I'm afraid that every single thing I do is going to make God mad at me or like... offend him or something. o_x;

And like, I know that Jesus died on the cross fer us and stuff, but I don't like... feel it? xD; Like... feel all fired up and passionated about it I guess.. or something like that. ;Dx Sorry, it's kinda hard to explain, so I'll hope you understand what I mean. xD;

And like, I've prayed outloud that he saved us and asked him to save me.. I've... done it several times actually. xD; And like... recently. I didn't accept him a long time ago, I think... around Easter I was actually at a really bad point, where the worrying and fearing really got at me, so I prayed that then... and I've done it a coupla times afterwards... But I still dun feel anyfin'. u_u; Like, seriously... nuffin'. D: When I read ze verses about how God loves us and etc, those make me happy. ^-^ [I like Romans 8:38-39 a lot. xD;;] But then I read verses about how people who don't give their all are kinda... well, doomed. ;-;

And well, worrying leads to being scared. u_u So I'm kinda this smorgasboard of worrying and fearing and bad feelings in general. Dx

And I wanna feel happy, positive feelings, and feel strong faith in God [Yeah, my faith is still shaky. ;-;] and etc. u_u And feel secure with teh whole salvation t'ing and with mehself.

Annnd... yeh. Dx it'd be cool if you could pray for meh. :3 [If you have advice or anyfin' to give, please do~ 8D Advice... is good. xD;]

Edit: Okay, so, I think I might've narrowed down one of the things I'm worried about. [Another thing rather. xD;]

But before I say this, I think I might want to say that I'm an incredibly paranoid person. u_u;

Like... one time I seriously thought I had rabies and I was going to die. ._.; Started to cry from fear a bit. xD;

And the thing about that is...

I knew I didn't even get bitten by anything. u_u;;;;

So the thing I think I'm worried about is anime/manga. @_x; Like... "What if it's bad? Dx What if I'm not supposed to!? DD:" And... I try to reason with myself. That... it isn't bad and stuff, but it doesn't seem to be working. >_>; But... as you can probably see from my story, I'm not a very logical person anyway. u_u

And I think I'm kinda scared 'cause I want to keep on watching anime and reading manga and etc [been doing it for... a really long time. xD;] but there's this worry-ness and it just makes me wonder if I'm not suppose to anymore, or if it's just me being a paranoid freak. u_u;;;

Worrying all the time just ruins the manga reading experience. Dx

Umm, yeah. Keep on praying for me please. xD; And again, advice is good, and I appreciate all the advice I've gotten so far. :333 [I'd really like it if someone could address this whole anime/manga thing. ;o; 'Tis been bothering me all day. Dx]

I've said this a lot it seems, but oftentimes feelings are overrated. We don't feel saved sometimes, sure, but salvation is dependent upon God, not how we feel (thank God!). Otherwise we could be going back and forth between being with God and eternal damnation several times a day. When God says something, you can bank on it 100% because He doesn't studder, change or go back on His word. In fact God has put His word higher than His name:

Psalm 138:2
I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.

I also want to suggest that it might be a sin problem. I don't know you, so I can't say for sure. Sometimes we can feel condemned because there's something that we should be giving up that we aren't. If you think this is the case, then read your Bible, talk to a close Christian friend/mentor and see if there's any way that you can change for the better.

I'll certainly pray for you. I know feelings can truly be misleading. Worrying definately is teh suck.

I'll pray^^ I know I've been like that a couple times, not really "feeling it". But as long as you accept Him, you shouldn't have too much to worry about^^ That's all I can really say for words of advice for now... Hmmm I know there's many verses that talk about the topic of "worry", so maybe if you look it up on Gateway they'll be some helpful stuff^^

[quote="Bap"]But then I read verses about how people who don't give their all are kinda... well, doomed. ]

I don't know which verses you're referring to, but verses that I know about are ones like the one that says, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." Once you become a Christian and give your heart to Christ, nothing can seperate you from him. Nothing. The Bible says, "Through grace alone are you saved, not by works, lest any man should boast." It's not what you do that earns your salvation, it's what God did for you. God knows that we're going to *royally* mess up at times, because we're imperfect human beings, and we'll always fail. But He loved us so much that He sent His son to die for us to pay a debt we could never in eternity pay on our own. Why would he do that if we could earn salvation ourselves? It would be a pointless sacrifice-- and God loves His Son far too much to pointlessly sacrifice Him. I know what you're going through, I think most Christians would tell you that they didn't feel assurance of their faith when they were first saved, and that they "prayed the prayer" every night. But that's just a lack of trust on our part, that God can save us without our doing anything to earn it. But if you believe that you're a sinner, and that your sin can be forgiven through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, and you've accepted his gift of salvation, then you can bank on the fact that you're now a child of God, and that you'll be His child for eternity.

I'll be praying for you, Bap. If you ever have any questions, my PM box is wide open, so don't hesitate to send one my way.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Some good things have been said in this thread. I want to just echo Yumie: We can't live it on our own; that's why we have to depend on God's grace for our salvation, and on the Spirit to speak God's Word through us. And it's not God's will for you to feel condemned. While we do sometimes need to be convicted when we step out of God's will, I believe the Spirit convicts us in an encouraging way, not in a way that makes us feel beat over the head. Romans 8:1 says that there is no condemnation to us who are in Christ Jesus. The Bible also says God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.

Anyway, hopefully this is of some encouragement, and I'll be lifting you up.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

I'll pray for you and just remember that it is better to worry about being saved then to not care at all.
Also, are you worried about something most of the time? Like every day, dose it get in the way of doing things you need to do?

Ya know, I think what freerock said was right.

I went through the same thing you are going through, but you have to remember that our feelings are not a reflection of the truth. Anything can change the way you feel...you being 14, your feelings shift alot due to hormones. However, even though you may not feel saved, know that if you asked for forgiveness from sin and asked the Lord into your heart, then you are saved. Your salvation rests on the rock solid truth of God's word, not on your feelings. Spend time in prayer, and study God's word. You will grow closer to him. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

Anything you do to make God like you more or to avoid His wrath is insufficient. On the other hand, there is nothing that you could possibly do to deserve more than one death - and Jesus died on the cross almost two thousand years ago.

Have you murdered 500 people? Doesn't matter. Fornicated with 5000 men and 5000 women at the same time? Doesn't matter. Put Hitler to shame with your villainy? Doesn't matter. Jesus' blood covers. When God looks at you, he doesn't see your shortcomings - after all, all fall short of the glory of God - instead He sees the sacrifice on the cross.

If God was going to let your own actions cause you to lose salvation so easily, why would he invest so much blood into saving you in the first place? God is no fool - he paid good blood for you, and it is He and He alone who will make you into who you are supposed to be. In fact, He won't let you do "enough", because if you could do enough, then you'd get credit, and no flesh shall have glory before Him. He has to get all the credit. That means that you can just spend time with Him, and simply by being with Him, the spirit that He put in you will start to express itself. (that's a good thing)

Basically, right now all you need to do is spend time with God - and don't sweat anything else.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

oh lord xD I know EXACTLY how you feel. Trust me you're not alone in this. I've felt this way countless numbers of times. I struggle with fear too. Scriptures that always help me when I read them are John 14:1 and 14:27 and 16:33. Romans 1:18 is also good, "The just live by faith." Always remember that God is God. He knows when you're going to screw up but he also knows how to help you climb out of that problem. Just trust in him :3 everything will be okay! When it comes down to it, your good works don't mean anything if you don't have faith in him! wow I have stories to tell ^^; But hey if you want to talk to someone who's been in the same boat as you just leave me a message =D my pm box is always open!
