High blood pressure

Postby Maledicte » Wed Mar 15, 2006 10:32 pm

Yes, me, with high blood pressure.

And I'm only eighteen.

Please pray that I can get it down quickly and safely. I'm kind of scared here.

Love is that feeling you get when a girl looks at you and it feels like your driving a car at high speeds and experience a sudden drop. You know what i mean? That sudden sinking feeling you get in your stomach? Yeah, that's love. Leave's you speechless everytime.

It'll be fine -- medication works very well for high blood pressure. They'll probably put you on a mild water pill like hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), which your body gets used to quickly and is usually effective. It's also dirt cheap.

I'll be praying, too. Please try not to worry and stress about it...it will just make it worse. Since you ARE young, you can just make slight adjustments to your diet and lifestyle and with the help of the medicine shoo mentioned, it will probably be okay :) And that medicine is incredibly cheap.

Would changing your diet be any effective? Such as less salt intake (well, if you do eat a lot of salty foods that is) and more exercise?

Yeah, I'm working on my diet, and I got myself a trampoline as it's the only sort of exercise I don't have to force myself to do.

Only to a point. The recommendations now are for people with a systolic (first number) BP of 120-139, lifestyle changes only -- reduce salt, typically in processed and fast foods and take the salt shaker off the table, and regular exercise. With two blood pressures of SBP 140 or higher on separate occasions without other explanation, then medication is advised *plus* lifestyle changes. Again, it usually can be a single daily pill if it's not severe.

Of course, if you utterly, unimaginably SUCK at DDR like I do, then it's just going to depress you more. ;)

- Too thoroughly outclassed in the arcades to practise there.
- Too cheap to buy a modern console (and too devoted to my Dreamcast).
- Work too much.
