I need prayer.

Dont hate me for this, but right now i feel pretty ugly inside. Not because im into hentai. That can be forgiven, but because a part of wants to continue watching hentai and continue to lust after the girls i see in hentai pics and movies. I've heard all the advice about how to get rid of hentai, but the pro-hentai part of me will not listen to any of that and the part of me that is anti-hentai just seems so weak now.

When the battle is merely against sin whether it be lust or any other it is relatively simple. Get rid of whatever causes you to sin, in the case of lust any pics stories and movies. Prayer helps alot too. When the battle is against a part of yourself it really complicates things. How do you battle against part of who you are? I don't feel any remorse or guilt when i watch hentai and that's what's worrying me.

Life is a test. It is only a test. Had this been real life you would have have been instructed where to go and what to do.

When i argue with reality I lose.....But only 100% of the time.

I think we would be hypocrites to hate you for struggling with one type of sin when all of us struggle with sin of one kind or another. We're here to help each other. Sin is what needs to be hated, not people.

I will say a prayer for you, and I don't know if it will help or not, but sometimes if you want to get rid of something, replacing it with something else can help. I've been struggling recently with getting too interested in material possessions. (Specifically, I like collecting production art.) It was really bad last semester when I was only taking twelve credits and had all this time on my hands but now that I'm student teaching, although I still struggle, I don't have as much time to browse the internet for stuff to buy.

Prayer and spending time with God is first and foremost is the biggest help. There are also Christain organizations who specicially help people who are struggling with pornography or other sexual sin. Perhaps one of these would be able to help you as well.

Calm down Ryupower everyone has their vices and none of us are completely free from sin.

My youth leader last Thursday touched on what we can do to avoid sin in our world. He said we all sin of course but when we have God's grace and have good faith we can break free from that sin without falling deep into it. But if we constantly indulge ourselves in sin it becomes harder and harder for us to climb out of it. He said it is not just enough to seperate yourself from the lures of sin in this world but you must replace it with good. Only through God of course can we be truly satisfied and free. This is something that many people including myself forget pretty easily.

You have to seperate yourself from hentai AND replace the sin with something good. Pray, read the Bible, talk to someone about spiritual things, something wholesome. I've struggled with the same thing before. But I've been free from it for months because I had to force myself away from it but also replace the time I would have spent looking at that with something good. Granted I don't pray everytime I get the urge or do something productive spiritually, but I try to and whatever is I do instead I make sure it won't lead to those urges.

I'll pray.

Ryupower, don't get all righetous on us please. Everyone is a sinner and that's why we all need Jesus Grace.

Kura, I'll be praying for you mate. Talk to God about it and possibly get someone you can trust to hold you accountable - a mentor of sorts. Things like that can greatly help. Especially in the realm of lust. Remember God is all powerful. Come to him asking for forgiveness and saying your sorry and he will work in your life big time. Also you lust will have less of a hold and you will be able to live a bit more like Jesus intended.
We all sin and therefore need forgiveness. You are being honest that you have a problem, now you just have to give it over to God.

I am calm, and you're right, no body's free.
But he wanted help, I prayed, and those thoughts usually help me...:)

Yes, maybe so, but there are better ways of saying it. Otherwise you come off as a Christian fundamentalist more concerned with law, than Jesus sacrifice and his Grace and Mercy. Conviction is good but being judgemental is not. That is all.

I'm not judging him...
But if one keeps on saying 'awww...that's OK' how much do you think that's gonna help? It's not OK, it's sin, G-d says it's disgusting, and I had issues in this area too.
however, I think you have a point, I should have added a 'think of it this way' infront of my first post. It was not supposed to sound forceful or anything ( otherwise there would have been exclamation marks there...)
but OK... we're getting off topic...

Kura, one thing you can do is pray and ask God for the desire to stop looking at hentai. When you're embroiled in sin, it's difficult to want to stop it. But if you are seeking God, you can ask him to change your desires. Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart." Does this mean that God will give you everything you want? Or does it mean that He will work in your heart to transform your very desires? I think it's the latter. I will pray for you too.

I believe that Ryu wasn't trying to be judgemental. I think she was simply trying to ask thought-provoking questions that might give Kura more motivation to break his addiction. When you can come up with really good reasons to quit something, it gives you that extra boost of motivation. I think that Ryu was just saying, "If you want your future spouse to be pure for you, try your darndest to have the same consideration for her. It doesn't have to be something that you're just doing for yourself." And I think that this is a good thing to point out. It's easy to stay in a sin pit when the only reason you'd have to sludge your way out of it is, "It'll be better for me." Because often, we counter that true thought with, "But this feels better for me." Whenever we try to put it in perspective, it really can help.

I've written a lot of responses on this same topic recently, Kura, and here's basically what I've been saying to everyone:

1. Pray for God to make you STOP WANTING it. Not that you'd just be able to get rid of it, but that it would be what you want to do.

2. Find other things that are good for you *spiritually* to keep you occupied. It seems to me like temptation hits hardest when you're bored, so keep your mind on other things.

3. Find an accountability partner-- someone of the same gender who will constantly ask you how you're doing with the issue, someone who you can talk to when it's rough, someone who will pray for and encourage you.

4. Muster all your will-power, and then get rid of it without hesitating. Don't give yourself time to think about it, just wait until a good moment when you're the most resolute and just do it.

5. Tell God when it gets rough. In moments of weakness, run to Him and ask Him to help you!

I'll pray for you, Kura.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I know your struggle, and I know how hard it is to resist, as many know. You're right, it is very dangerous to come to a point where you no longer feel remorse and you should be afraid. From there it's easy to slip into spiritual stagnation, if you're not already there (I don't know). I've said this before, it's a battle that can be won if you take the initiative to depend on the Lord's strength. If you find that hentai is part of who you are as a Christian, I suggest you redefine your identity.

Ephesians 4 is applicable to you in your situation.

20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:20-24

That's part of it, but by all means, read the whole chapter. I'll be praying for you-- I know that you can win this battle!

I shall pray for you. While you may feel dead inside Kura, also remember that you feel strongly enough about this that you want to end the addiction and want prayer about it. That's a good sign, while you may not feel like you are being changed, it shows God is working on your heart in this matter and convicting you. The earlier advice people gave was really good, just try to remember that everyone has the struggle against their flesh, and it is not one we can win on our own. Keep praying and striving to do God's will, and He will take care of the rest.

Man, do I know exactly how you feel. Its not easy pulling out of something so...so addictive, and so clingy to your desires. Whatever you do though, don't give up. I had this problem for a long time, and each time I commit the said sin, I either am driven to tears or deadness on the inside.

All is not lost though. The good He has began within you shall be seen through to the end.

When I use to commit this sin (and i still do from time to time) I use to honestly ask God to literaly slap me in the face if to get me off the said sin addiction.

If you are willing to go to whatever leangths to get off it, then try the following techniques of avoiding sin.

I. If presented with the temptation don't wait around for it to sink into you and take hold. Run. I mean litaraly RUN! Zip out of your room and house, and run circles around your home and neiborhood screaming if you have to. Thats what Joseph did (minus the screaming).

II. Try turning your radio on (if you have a radio) to a christian channel like the DLMoody Broadcast channel. With that as a distractant, you'll find it very difficult to sin.

III. Do you have a pet dog? Have that pet Dog live in your room. If you are tempted with said temptation, look into your pet Dog's adorable little eyes of innocence. Let yourself go and cuddle the puppy and play with it, forgetting all about the nasty hentia. Besides, can you do the said temptation while your dog is watching?

IV. Get an internet filter with password lock. Randomly type in the password so you don't remember it. Now if your tempted you won't be able to go to any porn sites, and you won't be able to undo the filter. Get a good filter though cause they can be worked around.

V. Get a picture of Jesus Christ, frame it, and place it somewhere like right on top of your computer where you can see. Makes it kinda difficult to sin, huh?

VI. (this is somewhat impractical but...) When faced with said temptation, have a air sealed bucket of something dreadfully nasty like chicked droppings. Place hands in bucket of chicken droppings. Resist temptation to wash hands. Now you will be so busy resisting the temptation to wash your hands, you won't have time for hentai. Your ceartainly not going to commit any sexualy immorality with chicken poo on your hands are ya? If you wash your hands, but then come across temptation again, quickly before the devil has time to persuade you otherwise, place hands in chicken poo.

If all of the above fail, worry not. Pray for God to break you. Pray that he will use any and all methods to free you of the sin. Try fasting if you havn't done that all ready.

Sometimes it takes a stick of dynamite to change a persons attitude towards a particular sin. God has many creative ways to break a person of any temptation. In any case, don't stop praying and don't give up.

I've been through what you have been through and I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If the spirit is still willing, then you always have a fighting chance.

Don't take my word for it though, take God's word.

You're on the right track in being honest with yourself and admitting you have an addiction to hentai, as well as doing what you can to stop yourself from watching it. However, you can't do it on your own. That's where prayer and accountability partners come into place. I can't stress it enough that you need someone, preferably of your own gender, to get on your case when need be and constantly touch bases with you and encourage you to remove this problem in your life.

Kind of like me in my goals to lose weight. I can on my own limit food portions and exercise, but without someone checking into my progress (even when I don't want them to), not much success is there in the long run.

I'm telling you, it's going to be one difficult and painful process to remove this area of sin from your life and replace it with something more suited for God's purposes. Jesus Himself said in Mark 14:38 "Watch and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak." The apostle Paul also addresses the same thing in Galations 5:17. "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

You've got a battle going on inside you. A spiritual one. Paul later on in Ephesians 6:12 explains this battle. "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

This is more than just a problem with hentai. It's a struggle between the Holy Spirit and Satan with the desires of the flesh wanting total control over every aspect of your life. I agree with others who've posted here in encouraging you to, in your prayers, tell God how you feel about your addiction, that you're disgusted with it, and ask Him for the strength and determination to sever it out of your life, and replace it with something fit for His service. Also, ask Him to help you find someone, a guy who shares your faith, to help keep you accountable. You'll soon discover it's much more difficult to go back to old habits when you have someone on your back all the time. :).

You have my prayers. Take heart. You can overcome this.
