I feel like I don't believe anymore...

Postby Momo-P » Fri Nov 25, 2005 11:23 pm

" I feel like I don't believe anymore..."

As much as it hurts me to say such a thing with my lips, it hurts just as much to say it with my fingers. Lately my faith problems have become terrible.

This feeling, this thought has done nothing but chase me down. Today it got as bad as ever. I felt like I was alone. Like even if I went to Hell I wouldn't care. Like I didn't believe and didn't care...and it scared me to death. I sat in my mother's lap and cried. I even got up while at my grandmother's today (while at a late Thanksgiving dinner) and sat in the car crying, asking God why this was happening to and help.

I want to cry, shake, die. I don't like this. I want my faith back. It scares me so much, I want to be a strong Christian again...I don't want to lose my faith. I wish God would hurry and help me...

Swordguy is right. you obviously believe. I had those exact same problems while I was in the 7th grade. I would stay up all night just crying, and go through the days just thinking to myself, wondering if God could even hear my cries for help. Well, he always hears you. I'll show you a few scriptures that helped my get through my time of depression.

John 16:33
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

John 14:1
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me."

John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Those are my top 3 favorite scriptures. I encourage you to study those. I would study them late at night when everyone was asleep, beacuse then I was free to cry, just Jesus and me. He loves you very much and is just waiting for you to say, "Ok, I give up, I'm tired of this. I'll let you help me now." Just read them and see if any peace comes to you. You'll be in my prayers ^_^

Are you reading and making ovservations daily from your Bible? Are you taking those observations and making a conclusion and applying them to your life? You know that that is the only way to stay in God's will, is to be reading, praying and reavaluating your life daily. He did not take your faith away from you. Perhaps you have turned your back on it. I will be praying for you to get back the faith that is missing in your relationship with God.

Silent Hunter's right, you know, this thing happened to me also, months ago, but now I'm over it, but mine was worse, I even tried to elude him during my depressing times, and even thought if I could do anything or if I could still remove myself from my depression. But, when I returned to Him and His ministry, I was renewed, everything was refreshed and renewed, and from then on, I didn't live nor did I want to live again, I wanted to serve Him, evermore.. God bless!

Remember, no one can take your faith away from you. Since there are so many versus, I just post a song that may help.

1. The love of Christ is rich and free;
Fixed on His own eternally;
Nor earth, nor hell, can it remove;
Long as He lives, His own He’ll love.

2. His loving heart engaged to be
Their everlasting Surety;
’Twas love that took their cause in hand,
And love maintains it to the end.

Chorus: Love cannot from its post withdraw;
Nor death, nor hell, nor sin, nor law,
Can turn the Surety’s heart away;
He’ll love His own to endless day.

3. Love has redeemed His sheep with blood;
And love will bring them safe to God;
Love calls them all from death to life;
And love will finish all their strife.

4. He loves through every changing scene,
Nor aught from Him can Zion wean;
Not all the wanderings of her heart
Can make His love for her depart.
(Repeat chorus)

5. At death, beyond the grave, He’ll love;
In endless bliss, His own shall prove
The blazing glory of that love
Which never could from them remove.

This feeling, this thought has done nothing but chase me down. Today it got as bad as ever. I felt like I was alone. Like even if I went to Hell I wouldn't care.

One of the first things I thought about with this part of your post was a verse in Psalm 139 (verse 8): "If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there."

I'm lifting you up. I do want to encourage you to think on the things in this thread, and in your other prayer request thread (here). The fact that you're even concerned about it sounds like you haven't lost your faith. Satan's trying to put frustration and confusion into your mind. These confusions are not of God; the Bible tells us that God is not the author of confusion but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33), and that the thoughts and persuations that would try to throw us off track don't come from Him who has called us (Galatians 5:8).

I've gone through this kind of stuff myself, and sometimes I still battle it. Satan knows where we're weak. He's a sneaky son of a gun; he knows he can't get some of us by coming directly to us and saying God isn't real, or that Jesus didn't die for us. So instead, he'll try to torment us in our minds, make us doubt the love that God has for us, make us feel like we've sinned too much to be forgiven. But Satan is a liar. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and to release us from fear. And because we're in Christ, we're sons and daughters of God. He has seated us in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). Sometimes we have to consciously choose to ignore the devil's lies, and even then we may still not feel like we're in the heavenly realms with Christ. But it's not about how we feel; it's about the truth of God's Word and what Jesus did. And we should base our beliefs on that, not on our feelings.

Hopefully this is of some encouragement. I'm praying for you, my sister. And if you need to PM someone who's been there (and still sometimes battles it), please feel free to PM me. :)
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

I dunno, that sounds like you care to me...
I think many of us go through times were we are uncertain or we feel a lack of the spirit. I think what helps is finding something that brings you closer to the Lord- whether it's reading the bible, prayer or just talking about it to someone. It varies person to person. But how you feel is understandable. I'll continue to pray for ya.

I remember going through that. It is a pill while it is happening, but coming out of it leaves you so much stronger in your faith. It is a real 'Refiner's fire' kind of situation. I'll pray for you.

I agree w/ Doubleshadow. If you figure out, through God's streingth, how to overcome this, you will be much stronger for it. I know that for me, Satan doesn't have to mess with me there, I belive in God, period. I may not "feel" close to Him all the time, but I don't doubt God's love for me or His power. What I do struggle with is staying in the Word, and so Satan takes advantage of that in various ways. All to say -> be aware of your weakness.

Also, a(nother) song came to mind when reading this.
Come to Jesus by Chris Rice

Weak and wounded sinner
Lost and left to die
O, raise your head, for love is passing by
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus
Come to Jesus and live!
Now your burden's lifted
And carried far away
And precious blood has washed away the stain, so
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus
Sing to Jesus and live!

And like a newborn baby
Don't be afraid to crawl
And remember when you walk
Sometimes we fall...so

Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus
Fall on Jesus and live!

Sometimes the way is lonely
And steep and filled with pain
So if your sky is dark and pours the rain, then

Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
Cry to Jesus and live!

O, and when the love spills over
And music fills the night
And when you can't contain your joy inside, then
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus
Dance for Jesus and live!

And with your final heartbeat
Kiss the world goodbye
Then go in peace, and laugh on Glory's side, and
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus
Fly to Jesus and live!
And I'll stop this pretending that I can
Somehow deserve what I already have
I need You to love me
