Going To Italy For Two Weeks

Postby dragonshimmer » Sat May 14, 2005 7:22 am

I'll be gone for two weeks starting Monday, May 16. Certain members of the touring choir and the band at my university are going to Rome, Firenza, Monterubbiano, etc. to perform in various places, including The Vatican (for mass). We're also doing tons of sightseeing as well.

There are a couple of concerns I have about this trip:

If you guys could, please pray that God watches over us all on this trip, everything from the flight there, the duration of our stay, and the flight home. I'm excited about the trip, but the idea of being on a plane that long makes me incredibly nervous. I know that if it's time for God to take me home, it's going to happen regardless, but I would rather not be terrified the entire flight.

I also ask that you guys please pray that the participants on this trip won't make severely stupid decisions...as people are likely to do when overseas.

Last, but not least....

While most people are excited about partying and stuff on this trip...I'm actually taking this as a "spiritual journey" of sorts (although an expensive one XD). This trip away from everything for two weeks will give me a LOT of time to do thinking and do some spiritual searching. I'm seeking a lot of answers to many questions that I have while on this trip. I ask that you guys please pray that I'll receive answers to the questions that I have, and that I'll stay focused on God and find Him wherever I look. I hope to come back with an even stronger spiritual focus, even moreso ready to do God's will and go where He leads me.

Thank you guys for your time, and I'll miss you all SO much!! Please take care!

What fun! Oh, do alot of crazy tourist stuff and get the natives to look at you funny, okay? Afterall, there's no sense in going if you can't even get a rise out of the natives. . . ;)

I'll certainly pray for you. Since I'll be flying later this summer, I completely sympathize with your feelings.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

That's really a noble mission, to be planning a time of spiritual growth while others plan to party. That's very admirable! :thumb: I'll pray for you, those going with you, and that your trip will be safe. Have fun!
