Seriously freaking out here..

I am so stressed right now! Here's some background: I'm attending art college and right now I'm pretty much drowning in the school work. I'm averaging about three to five hours of sleep a night and I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up. At the moment, I'm taking several design courses, art history and the one that has me the most stressed out at the moment, jewellery.

Ei, this weekend I was in the studio trying to finish a band ring that's due this morning at 10 AM. Unfortunately, I really suck at soldering and I ended up frying my only ring blank. I've since managed to salvage the blank, but I wasn't able to get back into the studio this weekend. Worst thing is, I came in a full hour and a half early this morning in order to use the studio (which is supposed to be open early before class). Guess what? The studio technician is behind on the studio upkeep so he's not letting anyone in until 10 AM!!!! (he evidently 'has the right' to do that) :bang:

I was already cutting it tight, since I still need to solder, shape, file, emory and polish the ring, and now it looks like I'm going to be sitting with an 'F', unless my teacher is miraculously understanding. And then I have two more abstract geometric studies to do, a thesis statement on William Holman Hunt that's due tomorrow morning and a large, detailed pen and ink study of a local indoor garden to do by Friday. :mutter:

I would really appreciate prayer right now, I'm feeling really sleep deprived and defeated right now, with a good dose of irrational crankiness thrown in. I'm just hoping to survive the week. And sorry if this was mostly a rant...

Wow, that's quite a workload (soldering jewelry ... hmm). Do you think your teacher will let you swing it?

Yeah, I feel your pain. I will pray.

I never like working around college lab hours. I'll pray for you and that God can keep you sane throughout this week with all this work! :thumb:

Phew, so things didn't go as badly as I had expected and I am significantly calmer now. It turns out my jewellery class is running a week behind and contrary to the class schedule, midterm crit is next week and we're actually working on the band rings and bezel setting today. It also turns out I wasn't the only one struggling with soldering (and ending up with melted rings); about half of my classmates didn't understand it either. The teacher's assistant ended up giving another demo, which helped a ton. And I actually managed to get two rings finished this afternoon. I still have a bunch of homework, but at least today went well. Thank you all so much for your replies and prayer, it means alot ^_^

a rant? i love rants! i go off on them all the time! but i'll try not to right now...

believe me when i say i know what you're going through with only having 3-5 hours of sleep. in fact, i "should" be in bed right now because i'm sick, but i'd rather help pray for other people. sorry, tangent....

umm... art is something that your heart is set on though, and it takes a lot of work. but i'll pray that things work out fine for you, and that you get more sleep.

i'm glad that your class is running late though. maybe "glad" isn't the word... but thankful that you are able to sort of catch up with what needs to be done. i'm sure everything will turn out fine.
