Hurricane Francis

Postby Destroyer2000 » Wed Sep 01, 2004 8:19 pm

I live in Middle Georgia, and though the hurricane may have weaken before it gets here, it will still be strong. It's expected to be level 5 by the time it makes landfall. It's current path sends it up the eastern side of Columbus, GA, and I live about 45 minutes east of Columbus. Hurricane Andrew (Or was it Alexander?) back in the early 90's wreaked havoc out here. Broke the dam on a nearby lake, and just tore things up pretty badly. This Francis is expected to be about that bad. I think we should all be remembering the people around here, especially those in Florida who just went through Charley. I have a man at my church who lost his mother to that hurricane (I think...they found her dead in the nursing home, if I understood correctly.) I know there are some members from the CAA that live down there, so let's remember them as well. My father also lives in Florida, as well. I just ask that we remember all those who may suffer or be in danger due to this, and that God will build a wall and send it away from us back toward the sea.

Yeah, I know it's gonna be bad. If it keeps it's current track, we are very likely to lose our house. We are going to be the first to get this bloody storm (north Palm Beach County) and possible have 24 hours of a terrible storm, trapped in a room with people my dad works with that I don't even think he knows, and we have to leave my dog at home alone. *sigh*
Well, worrying about it isn't going to make it go away, all you can do is prepare and pray.

I will be praying for all the CAA members who live in the region, and the families, and the region in general.

Please, if possible, keep us updated! We don't like to worry about our friends! :sniffle:

I'm talking to my dad on the phone now. He's lost all power, and is using a cellphone to talk to me. He said he's bored, since there is now power. Heh heh. Anyway, the storm will affect us tomorrow...it should come down the east side of Columbus, by that time it should be a tropical depression, though. My dad hasn't had to go through the eye wall yet, though I don't think he will.
