Prayer over my Internet life desperately needed

Postby Nightshade X » Fri Aug 06, 2004 9:58 am

Hi, people. I need a lot of prayer concerning my life on the Internet. Recently, I've been really, really weak in my battle against pornography. To be absolutely truthful, I've been falling almost every day. I fear that if I don't defeat this thing now (I mean, right NOW), I'll probably end up losing it almost completely, becoming the monster I was just four years ago, and never fulfill my dream of becoming a good husband to my future wife. Definitely not something I want to do. Therefore, I ask that you pray for me, at the very least, that I can resist this temptation better than I am able to now. However, it would be nice if you could pray that I would be able to crush this enemy's head under my heel once and for all.

:rant:

*looks at the post* whoops... heh heh... sorry, I guess I got a little carried away... but I think you get the point. Please, help me.

I'll be praying for you. Be strong.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I'll be praying for you man, I understand your struggles. Something that might help is memorizing some scripture. You might've heard this before:

9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.
10 I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.
11 I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
12 Praise be to you, O LORD ;
teach me your decrees.
13 With my lips I recount
all the laws that come from your mouth.
14 I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
15 I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
16 I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.

Psalm 119:9-16

Hang in there, bro!

I will defiently be praying with you. Just recently (like in the last weeks), I've took an effort to avoid pornography. it's hard with Christ, nothing is impossible. Be strong. if you feel the temptation, do somehting else. Go watch t.v. or read the bible. If I'm on the inernet, I focus on one thing an done thing only. i dont let my mind wander and if it starts to, I get it back on track on what I inteded to do ont he internet. You can truly only do on ething at once when you give your 100% focus on it.

I'd set up a accountability group with friends. I've set one up with 2 of my friends and plus my father who along with my mother regualry monitors what sites I go to and what I've been doing on the internet. Nowing that, I now for sure to defiently stay away fromt hat. Bu tmore importantly then my parents monitoring what I view, I know God is watching what I do every second. That helps as well knowing what I'm look on the internet is not worthy or whatever to him.

Keep praying and try some of the stuff I'm trying as well.

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things... hey... the good things don't always soften the bad things; but vice-versa the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant." -11th Doctor

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close
