Finally have a surgery date!

Postby Sheenar » Fri Jan 04, 2008 6:40 am

My orthopedist called this morning and finally gave me a date for my ankle surgery (I've been waiting months for this). It will be on Monday, January 21.
I'm glad I'll finally be getting this done (Achilles tendon lengthening) so I can finally put my left foot flat on the ground. Hopefully it'll help get rid of the arthritis too (I'm 22, that's too young to have that! :P) It'll be a day surgery, so no hospital stay.
Anyway, please pray for me on that day. I'll be missing class (it's the first full week of school --we start on Wednesday January 16) and work, so pray that my profs and my supervisors at work will be understanding. Hopefully I won't miss more than 3-4 days, but I'll have to wait and see how my recovery goes. I just hope I'm on a walker and not a manual chair--my campus is murder on people with manual chairs. Stupid huge hills. Pretty, but dangerous. I can see myself losing control, rolling down the "Hill of Death". Hopefully that won't happen.

Praying, hon. And don't worry about the professors. Just give 'em plenty of info in advance, and you should get excused :).

I am currently trying to arrange transportation to and from the surgery and for someone to stay with me for the first 24 hours (surgeon's orders --they won't let me leave the surgery center without someone to stay with me). Pray that I can find someone --my surgery's only 2 weeks away...

Continuing prayer. (:

I just found out today I don't have school on the 21st, so you can bet I'll spend the day in time with the Lord lifting you up. Or, whatever I can.

I'm frustrated...it's hard dealing with finances and making arrangements to pay for the surgery. Waiting to hear back from my surgeon about payment --his charge for the surgery is a little over $600 and they will let me pay it out. They just want me to make a payment before the surgery. The only thing is I don't have money to make a payment --I don't get another paycheck until mid-February. If my university refund comes in soon enough, I might could use some of that. I have a total of $12 in my checking account and about $30 in cash --I need this to buy my lab manuals for class (already purchased books).
I know God will provide. Finances are just so dang frustrating. :mutter: I guess it's just part of being "grown up". I just wish I could finally learn to be responsible with money...I'm so frustrated with myself...

I'll be lifting you up in prayer as well.

Hey...isn't the 21st a holiday or something? Like Martin Luther King Day?I think I have off on that day too. Will your University be off then? If so, it would probably make it a little easier to find someone, right?

If not, I'll sit in the corner.

Huh. Didn't realize that before. The 21st is Martin Luther King Day. I thought that was in February. Guess I'll be missing Free Day at the Houston Zoo...but that should make it easier to find somebody. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Where have I been?
