I know hamsters don't live that long...but this was just too sudden for me to handle. I bought him the very day he was weaned. He was actually the only one that started eating that day. He was an albino chinese dwarf hamster, named cotten. He was the best little hamster I've ever had. He never bit, fussed, squeeled. even when he escaped his cage and fell about 4 feet to the ground. Or when the cat would sit next to his cage. His favorite treat was iams puppy biscuits. He was only 6 months old. I thought they lived 2 years...*sigh*. I miss my cute little fluff ball.
He was getting better about being handled and being out of his cage. *sniff* I found him this morning in his running wheel. I thought he was still asleep. But I found it weird that I hadn't heard him at all last night. so I tapped the running wheel, and he moved with it like a dead weight. I feared the worst...and was shown the worst. He had died in his sleep. From what I don't know. Rigormortis had fully set in, so I know for sure he died last night. I found a small box and put some shavings in it along with a biscuit. I placed him inside it. We burried him in the garden next to my mother in laws dog that died last month. So, goodbye my little cotten. You will be greatly missed.
